Sydney

Sydney's story stretches back over 30,000 years when Indigenous Australians, the Eora and Cadigal peoples, lived along the shores of the pristine Port Jackson. They thrived in harmony with the land, crafting rich traditions and cultures.

In 1788, British Captain Arthur Phillip arrived at Botany Bay, marking the beginning of European settlement. Sydney Cove, with its natural harbor, became the site for the establishment of a British penal colony, and soon, the city emerged as the capital of New South Wales.

The 19th century saw Sydney evolve into a bustling trading post and later a hub of maritime commerce during the gold rush. The city's architectural gems, like the Queen Victoria Building and St. Mary's Cathedral, date from this era.

The 20th century ushered in waves of immigration, shaping Sydney's multicultural identity. The Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge became symbols of modern Australia. The city hosted the Summer Olympics in 2000.
