Prague

Prague's story commences in the 9th century when Prince Bořivoj founded the Prague Castle, perched upon a hill overlooking the city. This fortress became the cradle of Czech statehood and remains the largest ancient castle complex in the world.

In the 14th century, the reign of Charles IV, a wise and visionary monarch, saw the construction of the Charles Bridge and the reconstruction of the stunning Prague Castle complex. This era is often referred to as the "Golden Age" of Prague.

The 16th century brought religious turmoil, with the city becoming a focal point of the Protestant Reformation. In 1618, the famous Defenestration of Prague marked the beginning of the devastating Thirty Years' War.

In the 19th century, Prague experienced a cultural renaissance, with artists like Franz Kafka and composers like Antonín Dvořák contributing to its rich cultural tapestry.

The 20th century saw the city's resilience through both World Wars and the dark days of communist rule. The Velvet Revolution in 1989 marked the peaceful end of communist oppression.
